Olympic sailing calendar set for 2019-2020

As 1,400 competitors set sail at the Hempel Sailing World Championships, the primary Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualification event, their journey to Tokyo has been established.

A global World Cup Series, World Championships, Continental regattas, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic test event and major Olympic class events will help prepare the sailors for the Olympic Games.

The World Cup Series continues to provide the strongest broadcast and media platform in Olympic Class sailing to promote sailors and national teams, creating value for sponsors and supporters of sailors and MNAs.

The World Cup Series will feature Rounds in Enoshima, Miami and Genoa in 2018-19 culminating with the Final in Marseille. Enoshima will host the first round of the 2019-20 series with Miami and Genoa following before a return to Enoshima for the Final as sailors and teams to maximise their opportunity to compete at the Olympic venue and to reduce travel and logistics costs for teams ahead of Tokyo 2020.

The schedule of events for 2019 – 2020 is:

Enoshima Round: 9-16 September 2018
Miami Round: 27 January-3 February 2019
Genoa Round: 22-28 April 2019
Marseille Final: 2-9 June 2019

2020 World Cup

Enoshima Round: 25 August-1 September 2019
Miami Round: 26 January-2 February 2020
Genoa Round: 19-26 April 2020
Enoshima Final: June* 2020

The 2019 Olympic Classes World Championships will be Olympic Qualification Events except for the Finn that will use the 2019 Finn European Championship as the qualification event.
