Australian crew win race 2 in the Cadet World Championship at Bodstedt, Germany

Hobart sailors Jacob McConaghy and Sam Hooper have won the second race of the International Cadet World Championship on the opening day of competition at Bodstedt, Germany.
Sailing Hurricane, McConaghy (16) and Hooper (9) are fourth overall after placing 12th in race one yesterday.
McConaghy is captain of the Australian team of eight boats, four of them from Hobart's Sandy Bay Sailing Club. Three of the Australian Cadets are in the top ten after day one.
Victorians Elliott Hughes and Cate McCoy from Royal Geelong Yacht Club are sixth with placings of 17-5 while Peter Allen and Ashton Rawstron from the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria are seventh, placing 13-9.
Emma Kelly and Ollie Grieve, also from Royal Geelong, yesterday 30-5 to be 19th overall.
Of the other Tasmanians, Jack Allison and Luica Grove are 20th (27-20), Archer Ibbott and James Gough 22nd (5-45) and Hugo Allison and Grace Hooper 35th who started with a ninth in race one but received a BFD (black flag) disqualification in race two.
After the first day of sailing Argentina narrowly leads Australia as the top nation, both with three crews in the top ten.
