Registration tops 60 competitors for 2018 USSCA North American Championship Regatta. Registration still open.
Advance registration has topped 60 participants for this year's U.S. Sunfish Class Association North American Championship Regatta sponsored by the Lake Bluff Yacht Club.
The open regatta runs from August 1st until August 4th 2018 on Lake Michigan east of the Waukegan, Illinois public beach. Competition runs from August 2nd through August 4th. There is still an opportunity to register for this event by visiting the club's website.
Current registrants include previous world and national champions, past Olympians and a contingent of South and Central American competitors. This year's regatta is also a country qualifying event for the 2019 Pan American Games.
In addition to competition, the event includes a number of social events where competitors can mix with other Sunfish sailors from around the world. There are plenty of hotels and other accommodations available near the regatta site. Primitive camping (no showers on site) is also allowed at the regatta site.
The Lake Bluff Yacht Club is a community-based, family friendly, sailing, kayaking and social club based in Lake Bluff, IL. Over 140 families from Lake Bluff and surrounding communities belong to the club. The club hosts weekly summer and fall sailing races as well as family oriented social events each year.
