The event ended yesterday, Saturday 21 July 2018, with four races near the old castle of Navarino Bay. Smooth winds allowed the teams to fight for a possible repositioning on the overall classification.

The team of the Royal Swedish Yacht Club (KSSS) won this championship with an impressive performance, second to none. Hansen Bjorn on the helm, together with Anton Dahlberg, Mathias Bredin and Nils Bjerkas never let any team a chance to pass them at the finishing line.

"We took the opportunity to participate at this event in Greece as kind of a preparation for the Sailing Champions League. What we found here in Pylos was a fantastic sailing venue with perfect sailing conditions. We are proud to claim the first title in this new format! As former match race professionals and passionate Swedish league sailors, we think it is time to establish a European tour in this umpired fleet race format".

In the second position, we find the young dynamic team, UYC Traunsee, from Austria. Adam Smith on the helm kept the best-performing Greek team, Patras Sailing Club at distance. Marios Zisimatos and his youngsters from Patras reached a secure 3rd place. At the last racing day, Kaldis Harris from Piraeus Sailing Club moved up to the 4th place.

Roland Regnemer, General secretary of EUROSAF, stated: "The objectives of this first launch for the Europeans were more than accomplished, particularly in such a lovely place like Navarino Bay/Pylos".

The effort of the Sailing Club Pylos "Nestor" together with the Swiss Sailing League Association has let the sailors have fantastic races at an amazing sailing arena. The cooperation between various nations (sailing clubs, organisations and sponsors) have shown off border sailing on high-level sport and the necessary fun. As a result, the event has brought the fever of League Sailing to Greece.

The OA expresses a great "thank you" to all involved and is proud to have shared so many moments of Greek hospitality. We look forward to seeing many European Sailing Clubs next year at the 2nd edition of EUROSAF's Club Sailing European Championship 2019 (21-25 May 2019) at Ascona-Locarno in Switzerland.
