In less than 30 days will start the Aircalin Match Racing Cup in Noumea, New Caledonia. The Grade 3 event will be held from 15 to 18 August 2018 and will welcome 12 skippers sailing in Elliott 6 boats.
The local sailor Cyril Fortin won the Trophy last year and for the first time in seven edition. While overseas clubs (RNZYS, CYCA or RPAYC) always won the latest editions.

The Event
Title: Aircalin Match Racing Cup
Concept: Best Caledonian locals crews and crews from the Pacific region compete in a duel.
Match Racing: Inspired by the America's Cup, Match Racing is a special form of regatta. This is a duel, an equal battle on the water (exactly the same boats), a crew against another crew.
Boat: the event will be sailed in Elliott 6 type boat
Crew: 3 or 4 crew
Rank: open, women, youth (under 23)
Program
Tuesday 14 August to Saturday 18 August
Start of the races:
- Wednesday August 15th at 10am
- Thursday August 16th at 10am
- Friday August 17th at 10am
- Saturday 18 H to 10H
End of the races: every day around 17h
Opening Ceremony: Tuesday, August 14 at 18h - CNC Yacht Club - 2 rue du captain Desmier
Prize giving ceremony: Saturday 18 August at 17h - Gilbert Sutter Nautical Base - Tardy de Montravel Street
Event format
Each race / duel lasts about 15 minutes, several races a day.
Format over 4 days with elimination phases:
- Round Robin
- Quarter finals - Semifinals
- Final
The course: windward/leeward. Sailing area located in "Baie des citrons"
