From 1-7 July 2018, Steir Beach Penmarch, France welcomes the younger generation of RS:X Class at the 2018 RS:X Windsurfing World Championships.
Serious racing got underway yesterday at the RS:X Youth World Championships with the additional pressure of the qualification round. Although the young sailors have been training in sunshine and sea breeze all week, today they experienced chilly, classic Brittany weather with a deluge of rain and wind from the southwest, oscillating between 8 and 12 knots.
Although the conditions weren't particularly glamorous, they allowed the competition to get well under way and complete three races for both the girls' and boys' fleets.
For the French team, the day went very well for the boys. French sailors currently dominate the leaderboard in first, second, third, and also 5th and 6th place. A young racer from Lorient, Yun Pouliquen, is leading the regatta as of this evening.

In the girls' fleet, the young Italian Georgia Speciale dominated the day with three first place finishes. Unfortunately, she was disqualified in the first race for being over the starting line too early, which relegated her to 12th place overall.
Youth Women's Results
Today, the racing is scheduled at 13:00.
