Get out and sail: Your weekly crewing update from MySail

The spotlight is on to Shibumi - The fun and fast Northshore 369 Shibumi can be found out racing most weeks year-round, in the beautiful Sydney harbour.

Owner Bryan is an experienced yachtsman with tons of sailing experience under his belt. When not behind the helm of Shibumi, he can also be found crewing on other yachts for offshore events.

Keen to see the sport grow, Bryan enthusiastically offered a helping hand, and his yacht, to get some new sailors out on the water through MySail. On a sunny summer Saturday, with MySail founder Deb on-board, six new and newish sailors got to experience a spinnaker race around Sydney harbour.

Reflecting on the day, Bryan said: "it was lots of fun, and fantastic to get some enthusiastic new sailors out on the water. A couple of the crew have stayed on and are now sailing with me regularly; it has been great to watch them learn and grow in the sport."

Through MySail, Bryan has also found some experienced crew to fill in key positions when his regular crew weren't available.

"Ensuring we have enough crew, especially to cover key positions, is always a challenge," stated Bryan. "Through MySail, I've found some highly skilled sailors to join us, and we've had a lot of fun getting out on the water. Quite recently we even did one of the CYCA's Ladies Day races with a crew from MySail on helm."

"I love the fact that, through MySail, we can help new sailors get out on the water and also find crew with the experience and skills we need to be competitive."

Looking to get out for a sail yourself? Here are some of the latest crewing opportunities available through MySail.

Available Crewing Positions:

Mele Bilo 111 – Applecross, Western Australia
SpaceSailer 22, 22 foot, SOPYC

A masthead rigged yacht, the SpaceSailer is designed for high performance racing for both inshore and limited offshore events.

They're currently looking for crew for midweek JAM racing on wednesdays and winter frostbite series every second or third Sunday.

The ability to sail is a bonus but not essential. A sense of humour and commitment to sailing is far more important.
