Volvo OR: Scallywag does it tough on Leg 10 - Video

Since leaving Auckland the Hong Kong flagged Volvo Ocean Race entry SHK Scallywag hasn't been able to score better than last place points.

After opting to withdraw from Leg 7 after losing John Fisher overboard, they finished last on the next three legs. They were able to keep their record intact on Leg 10, after opting to sail a little lower than their immediate competitors, when lying in third place and inadvertently got on the wrong side of the fickle breeze. It proved expensive - carrying a hefty 100nm cost. But that is not an unusual penalty in a piece of water riddled with tidal gates, and where the breeze can turn itself on and off with the alacrity of a four year old fiddling with a light switch.

After staging a trademark recovery, where they got within sight of the backmarkers, SHK Scallywag dropped back to finish 25nm behind the group. On the positive side the team was able to post the best 24 hour run of the Leg.

A philosophical skipper David Witt talks through Leg 10 on SHK Scallywag, and their hopes of getting back on the podium again for the final Leg 11.
