RS Sailing 2021 - LEADERBOARD

A tremendous Bol d'Or Mirabaud Race for Lloyd Thornburg and his crew on Phaedo^2

by Rachel Fallon-Langdon 10 Jun 2018 07:31 UTC 8-10 June 2018

Loyd Thornburg and his crew of Chris Draper, Ed Smyth, Stuart Bithell, Haylee Outteridge and Julian Cressant, raced a fantastic Bol d"or Mirabaud race.

Holding the lead for a substantial part of the race down the lake, they were the first boat around the Barge du Bouveret after racing for over 7 hours, and ahead of the strongest computers in the fleet. They moved to a comfortable position of 4th and held onto this and the race leader all the way back up the lake. They finished in the pitch dark of the night with the notoriously shifting light wind by the SNG yacht club, slipping back a few more places only in the final minutes.

It was an incredible 2nd Bol d'or for Lloyd who is the newest to the D35 class and he held such a fantastic position in the fleet for the majority of race. Congratulations to him and his team, well sailed.
