RYA Push the Boat Out: Still time to set sail and try sailing this summer

by Susie NationGrainger, RYA 31 May 2018 09:08 PDT

RYA Push the Boat Out has come to a close but you can still get on the water this summer.

Almost 400 sailing clubs and centres across the UK welcomed thousands of visitors during RYA Push the Boat Out this May.

The month long event to get the nation sailing and windsurfing, inspired people of all ages and abilities to get out on the water with free or low cost Push the Boat Out 'have a go' taster sessions and open days.

One of the many clubs taking part were Tonbridge Town Sailing Club in Kent which welcomed 214 happy, excited visitors to their Push the Boat Out event offering dinghy sailing around their picturesque lake.

"We've had the most fantastic time and just loved the sailing" said one mum, "everyone was so friendly and welcoming too". Keith Minster, the club's commodore added "We are pleased to have been able to welcome so many of the local community to our club and share our love for the sport of sailing".

RYA Club Support Advisor Jackie Bennetts who manages the event said: "As always we're hugely grateful to the many clubs, centres and volunteers who supported Push the Boat Out which for the first time ran for an entire month in 2018.

"The feedback we have started to receive is really positive with clubs getting more people than ever on the water and gaining new members, which is all really promising news for our sport".

Try sailing this summer

Following the success of Push the Boat Out, the RYA are offering a whole summer of sailing with even more opportunities to for everyone to get out on the water.
