2018 North Sea Regatta at Jachtclub Scheveningen - Day 3

Waking up you had to check whether the boat next to you was still there because of the thick fog, usually a sign of little wind. The starting ship of course A quickly sailed out to assess whether the sailing yachts could come out for the races. Off-shore it seemed good, but once all boats were out, it was difficult for the starting ship to find them. The starting ship even received a wind dance from the extra jinn, hilarious!!
After an hour of waiting, a nice coastal course for the two handed was laid out. The start procedures for the different classes started. It is hard to believe, but all races have started without a false start. Did they learn something from the first two race days?
After a nice first race for all classes, the second race started without also general recalls or individual recalls. At the end of the 2nd race suddenly a thick mist came up. The visibility was less than 100 meters. It was almost impossible to see the finish buoy from the finish ship. But in the end all boats were finished. Sadly, all other matches of the day had to be canceled.
Even at course B and C nice races have been sailed today. At course C it was difficult to find the buoys. Once close to the finish, the start boat could not be seen but the finish buoy was.
And someone thought that the upper buoy was not at the right spot. He dragged the buoy towards the start, he got stuck.
The North Sea Regatta of 2018 has ended for this year again. It was a great edition with nice side events around the races. The first night the band of Albert Dahlmeijer, a member of the yacht club Scheveningen, played, the second day after the races there were food trucks on de quay and a great atmosphere in the sailor’s bar. With the performance of cover band Vangrail it became a great party. After sailing all the races, the sailors arrived back in the harbour. They were received with piano and drums. At the end of the day the prize ceremony took place.
We would like to thank everyone for sailing and congratulate the winners on their victory. Thanks for all sailors for sportsmanship. We also want to thank all sponsors and volunteers for everything, without them we could not have done it.
