If you have not done so already, it is time to enter the 80th challenge of one of the most storied yacht races on the Great Lakes. This year's night race across Lake Michigan departs from Milwaukee, WI for Grand Haven, MI on June 22, 2018.
Race week will be packed with events. It all kicks off on Wednesday June 20 with Caribbean Night featuring food from the islands, drink specials, and the Pangea Steel Drum Band. Thursday morning starts early with a breakfast buffet in SSYC's Commodore's Cove. The day continues with registration, a beer tasting sponsored by Wisconsin Brewing, a Mount Gay Rum tasting, a dinner buffet, and even a pig roast, followed by the annual Queen's Cup party featuring live music by The Sentinels.
Race day begins with our breakfast buffet, registration and race preparation. Harken's Tech Team will be performing deck gear inspections and any repairs, upgrades and general maintenance that is indicated starting Wednesday and right up to race time. Dr. Edit Olasz Harken from Harken Derm will give a lecture on sun protection for sailors. North Sails will conduct the weather briefing. And finally, the race to Grand Haven begins in the afternoon.
Don't miss an action-packed week. Sign up for the 80th SSYC Queen's Cup.
