Sailing Centre Throws its Doors Open for a Fourth Year

From 1100-1600 on Sunday 13th May, the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre – Portland (ASWC Portland) will throw open its doors once again to the local community for its annual birthday celebratory open day.

Activities Include:

  • ASWC Portland will be offering FREE Sailing, Kayaking and Stand-Up Paddleboarding for all ages (minimum age 5).
  • There will be activities for the whole family including inflatables, a raffle, BBQ and much more!
  • At 1400, the Great Dorset Cardboard Boat Race will be returning for its fourth year. Last year's event had over 20 entries into the race, with some very unique designs.

For those wanting to attend the event or enter the cardboard boat race, no booking is required prior to arrival.

About the centre

ASWC Portland is a not-for-profit watersports centre offering the full RYA Sailing Syllabus, the new RYA Foiling Scheme plus great multi-activity packages for schools and groups. The Centre also hosts many of the Andrew Simpson Foundation's charitable programmes.

Andrew Simpson Foundation is a registered charity. Its overarching objective is to increase sailing participation and improve the lives of young people through sailing. The ASF uses the challenges of sailing to develop young people by promoting health and wellbeing and building the personal skills that will improve their ability to succeed in life and work.
