Working alongside their longtime partners at the Club Náutico de San Juan, the IGFA has recently sent $10,000 in relief funds from the WARF following the devastation left by Hurricane Maria – a category five storm - which ravaged the island last year.

The Club Náutico de San Juan has identified several recreational fishing guides throughout Puerto Rico that are to struggling to recover from the tragedy due to charter cancelations, boat repairs, property loss and an uncertain future in their profession.

"On my behalf, the Board of Directors and the entire membership of the Club Náutico de San Juan," said Club Náutico Commodore Jose Vizcarrondo, "please accept our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the consideration of a donation of funds so that they may be distributed to our guiding community in the wake of Hurricane Maria."

The IGFA and its partner Costa Sunglasses created the WARF in September 2017. With this recent distribution of $10,000 to Club Náutico de San Juan, the WARF has disbursed a total of $46,000 dollars to recreational angling associations in the Florida Keys, Texas and Puerto Rico to help local captains and guides recover from Hurricanes Irma, Harvey and Maria, respectively.

"As an international organization, it's important that the IGFA support disaster recovery efforts wherever the recreational angling community is in need," said IGFA President Nehl Horton. "The IGFA has had a long history with Club Nautico de San Juan and we are happy to support our recreational fishing family in Puerto Rico in the wake of last year's devastating hurricane."

To make a direct, tax deductible contribution to the WARF, consumers can go to igfa.org/warf, or purchase a Costa t-shirt in support of recovery efforts at onecoast.net. The IGFA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
