Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC) has been named Best Asian Yacht Club and its blue water classic Category 1 offshore race, the Rolex China Sea Race, has been named Best Asian Regatta at the 14th Asia Boating Awards organised by Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating magazines held in Singapore.

On hearing the news of this double-win, RHKYC Commodore Robert Stoneley said, "I was thrilled to receive the news that the RHKYC has won awards for the Best Asian Yacht Club and Best Asian Regatta (Rolex China Sea Race) at the recent Asia Boating Awards. These are great recognition of the time and efforts our staff, members and volunteers put into everything RHKYC does. As one of the most well-established sports clubs in Hong Kong, we have a clear mission and strong passion to promote the professional development of sailing, rowing and paddling. Over the last year we have successfully hosted and co-organised several world and regional championship sailing events, together with the Rolex China Sea Race which is a major off-shore race, helping to put Hong Kong on the global sailing map and making it a major global and regional hub for watersports."

Rolex China Sea Race Chairman, Simon Powell says "We are delighted to win this award again as it shows that the Club and its key sponsor Rolex continue to deliver an outstanding event as Asia's oldest and most prestigious blue water classic. I would like to thank Rolex for their continued support of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, the Rolex China Sea Race, and many other major sailing events around the world."

"Congratulations to this year's Asia-Boating Awards winners and nominees. These are the brands, builders, yacht clubs, marinas, companies and people who are working so hard to keep up with the rapidly growing popularity of boating in the region," says John Higginson, Editor-in-Chief of Asia-Pacific Boating magazine.

The list of nominees came from online polling of Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating readers, with the winners determined by a panel of judges selected for their expertise as well as their ability to make informed and impartial decisions.
