The television broadcast team that shot and produced the television coverage of the 2017 America's Cup in Bermuda have been nominated for three prestigious Emmy Awards.

While Emirates Team New Zealand was lauded for their technical brilliance and kiwi ingenuity to win the Cup - the world viewing audience was only able to see it happen through the outstanding television coverage that was provided by a team stacked with New Zealanders.

The America's Cup coverage team was led by New Zealander and sailor Denis Harvey who has been the producer for TVNZ's New Zealand's, or the Host Broadcaster's America's Cup coverage since 1992. The team he has led includes a large number of New Zealanders in key roles.

Under the auspices of US domestic broadcaster NBCSN, the team has been recognised with the announcement of the Sports Emmy nominations where the America's Cup coverage team has been nominated in three Categories being pitched against industry heavies ESPN, Fox Sport.

The Categories are:

Outstanding Technical Team - Remote
Outstanding Live Event Audio
George Wensel Technical Achievement Award

As well as Denis Harvey as Executive Producer, the Director, Technical Operations Manager, Audio Director, Production Manager, two of the On Board Camera Operators, Chase Boat Camera Operator (and boat driver), Vision Switcher and a Replay Operator were all from NZ and with previous America's Cup experience. Some of those had experience extending across five America’s Cups.
