Windsurfers flocked to Ocean Air Sports in Avon, North Carolina to kick off a week long festival of long distance racing, slalom racing, clinics and freestyle competition.

2017 OBX-Wind Champion Tyson Poor says it's looking to be a rough but fun and exciting day tomorrow. Poor says he was lit on his 7.0 meeter sail today. "It should be a blast and windy as heck tomorrow!"

News forecasters are calling for flooding, hale, extreme winds and a possibility of tornadoes tonight with the passing storm. Residents are expecting to be woken up by mother nature and four story vacation rental homes will be shaking regardless.

The first 12 mile long distance race is scheduled to start at noon tomorrow with strong winds in the forecast.
