It was a chilly, overcast morning on Mobile Bay to start day Nationals final day.

The wind was up, at the moment, but predicted to steadily drop into the afternoon. We sailed out and warmed up with a brisk breeze that had interesting shifts and unexpected holes. The first start was called back with a general recall due to a large battle for the pin end. When the flag dropped for the second time everyone was well behaved and we were clean. The course became lite, shifty, and patchy. The leaders split the course and still came together at the top mark and fought for air all the way down the course. A breeze picked up a little bringing fleet back together on the run. With much approval from the fleet, the RC had the foresight to shorten course and see if anything would build. After some time, the RC sent us in to end the regatta.

This Regatta had every condition expected while racing the Finn. This was a true test to see who should be the US Finn National Champion. Congratulations to John Dane, the current North American Champion, and now the new US Finn Champion.
