For the first time in the history of the Volvo Ocean Race we are able to see video shot by a drone, chasing Dongfeng Racing sailing in 30kts plus winds and 5-6 metre seas

Here's the latest from skipper Dee Caffari onboard Turn the Tide on Plastic:

It was a big occasion. We made the gybe for what we think is the lay line for Cape Horn. We have a windy night ahead but tomorrow we should be saying goodbye Southern Ocean and hello Atlantic.

The weather has been very squally, with gusty winds associated with dark clouds bringing snow and hail. We are all quite relieved to know we are heading to warmer water every mile sailed from now on.

Conditions are wet and wild and down below is wet and extremely uncomfortable with violent movements making every day tasks very difficult.
