16-19 August 2018
The Osprey Class Association is proud to announce that the 2018 National Championships will be held at Weymouth SC from 16 to 19 August. The four day event includes ten races over different course areas.
Entries are now open! Just visit the club website and enter online at www.wsc.org.uk/ospreys. There is a reduced fee for early entry before end June, and all early entries will go into a free prize draw which will be drawn on the first night. In line with the Class ethos of encouraging the next generation of Osprey sailor there will be a generous entry fee discount for all under 21 entries.
The class last held its Nationals at Weymouth in 2013. In a 40 boat fleet Andy Barker/ Peter Greig came through to lift the trophy. This year the class expects to improve on that entry number and guarantees top level racing with past and present Champions challenging for the trophy.
Weymouth as a seaside town is perfect for those afloat and for those ashore with plenty to keep everyone of all ages occupied.
The Notice of Race and tourist information including the all-important accommodation options may be viewed on the Weymouth SC website.
The Osprey is a high performance 2 person trapeze dinghy with large conventional spinnaker. The latest generation boats now come in Epoxy form but older boats are readily available in both FRP and Wood and with this class, age is no barrier to success with some older boats being revamped to compete once more at the sharp end of competition. Carbon Spars, foils and laminate sails are now the standard weaponry.
The class would like to thank the many generous 2018 Championship sponsors, Hartley Boats, Gul, Rain and Sun Covers, Marlow Ropes, Moatt Sails, Allen Brothers, Clamcleat and SeaSure. Their combined input makes a huge difference to the Nationals experience for all competitors.
