"Never give up!" is the motto aboard SHK Scallywag, exemplified by two special bands the crew wear every day which have a special meaning to skipper David Witt and the crew.
The pink band represents Rowan, a South African lad who is fighting leukemia and a longtime supporter of the team. Rowan draws inspiration for his battle from the Scallywag's ability to beat seemingly impossible odds to recover and get back to the front of the fleet. The second is in support of autistic kids and a program "Autism on the Water".
Witty tells their stories on this Youtube clip way better than we could ever explain here.
