The pre-Nats opened with a big bang of the club cannon. Over one hundred Opti sailors hit the water plus over 40 Starling sailors. Three races were sailed for the Interislander Optimist Challenge & Port Marlborough Starling Championship.

The day started out with a 5 to 7 knots North Westerly Breeze which picked up by the third race, resulting in some more exiting sailing.

After day one Amelia Angus from Kohi is in front with a 5 point lead over Joshua Hyde and Hugo McMullen.

In the Starling Fleet Thomas Mulcahy (Murrays Bay) leads the field winning all races, followed by Emily Overend (QCYC) and Luke Armstrong (Worser Bay).

Tomorrow's forecast is similar to today with the wind filling in a bit earlier.
