The 2018 BVI spring Regatta and Sailing Festival is proud of the continued sponsorship from The Moorings Charter Company, as was announced at their re-opening of the British Virgin Islands base.

In the wake of the autumn hurricanes that devastated the islands and took some of The Moorings fleet along with it, the crews have been working tirelessly to rebuild the fleet. Large shipping vessels are in the BVI bringing in new boats and repairing others.

The fleet is looking strong for the 2018 charter season", quoted Josie Tucci, VP Sales and Marketing for The Moorings and Sunsail. "We are starting the season with over 120 boats in service, and have another 130 new boats arriving in the coming months". There is a boat for all sailors, racers or those just wanting to come to the event to watch and enjoy all the festivities.

For decades The Moorings has been a key sponsor of the spring regatta providing excellent racing yachts for sailors from around the world the opportunity to come to the BVI's, charter a great boat and race.

Sunsail will continue to sponsor the International Yacht Club Challenge, (IYCC) that has brought many a great smile to the winning yacht club to have a full charter on a Sunsail boat, to return to the BVI's to race again. Clubs from Holland, USA, Norway have competed to win this amazing prize. Sunsail offers a great range of monohulls complete with everything needed to race all day and have the comfort of your boat for accommodations.

"The IYCC has been a fantastic event added to the Spring Regatta that encourages Yacht Clubs from around the world to enter a team or more. For the home crews to come put to the BVI's and challenge other International Yacht Clubs is special." Said Judy Petz, Director of the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival.

BVI Regatta Village moves to new location

With the changes to the marina, the BVI Spring Regatta Village will be located on the Outer Marina at Nanny Cay. "The slips for all of the racing and motherships will be located here, so we have brought the party closer to the sailors." said Lou Schwartz, Village Manager. It is going to be a new year, so why not have a new village. Sailors can still enjoy the huge bar, great food and music every night with dancing on the beach along side the beautiful blue waters.
