IMTRA, the leading manufacturer and importer of quality marine products, announced today that Side-Power has launched the new SE50 and SE25 thrusters.

Designed to provide high performance in small tunnel sizes, the SE25 offers 55 pound-force of thrust (25 kilogram-force), in a compact 4.33-inch (110 millimeter) internal diameter tunnel and the SE50 offers 110 pound-force of thrust (50 kilogram-force), in a 5.5-inch (140 millimeter) internal diameter tunnel. The SE25 is ideal for vessels up to 24-feet (depending on vessel windage), while the SE50 is perfect for vessels in the 27- to 37-foot range. Before the introduction of these thrusters, there were less choices, especially for low-draft vessels. Often a thruster that would fit, did not provide enough power.

"More and more, boaters have come to expect options like bow thrusters on smaller vessels, and Side-Power has been at the forefront of thruster technology," said Peter Nolet, IMTRA's thruster specialist. "The Side-Power range of small, powerful thrusters, with the addition of the 25 and 50 models, allows us to provide a solution for most small boat applications."

Safety is designed into every Side-Power thruster. Ten years ago, Side-Power introduced full isolation of the electric motors from the gear leg as a key safety feature on all larger thrusters. These new models are the first to incorporate a composite drive connection with shear pin, that provides the first full isolation on these single prop models.

The 25 and 50 models are available in both SE (On/Off Control) or SEP (Full PROportional Control). The 25 is available in 12V only, while the 50 is available in 12V or 24V, and also in Ignition Protected version. This product is suitable for OEM and aftermarket refits. List price for the standard On/Off version of the SE25 and SE50 is $1,750USD and $2,500USD, respectively.

IMTRA is the exclusive North American distributor of Side-Power's high-quality products. The 25 and 50 model thrusters are available through IMTRA's network of marine retailers, shipyards and retrofitters in the United States and Canada.
