Record attendances in the Rooster Midland Solo Series

by Nigel Davies 9 Jul 2016 05:30 PDT 10 July 2016

There have been record attendances in the first half of the 2016 Rooster Midland Series. The series is now in its Summer break having completed seven events and I'm very pleased to report average attendance at this year's Solo Open Meetings is over 24 boats, lowest turnout has been 17, highest 32. This is 20% higher than last year and nearly 100% higher than the 2013.

There have been six different winner and we already have 10 qualifiers with still three events to go.

It has been the most open series for many years. Stuart Hydon who has won the series for the last few years has some work to do to retain his title and is currently in second behind Chris Brown who is leading the series. Nigel Davies who lead the series early on is now third and Kev Hall another series leader is in fourth and first Northampton boat. Northampton are looking strong for the team prize which they narrowly missed out on last year. Northampton have been a great supporter of the series sending many boats around the Opens. Its been nice to see new people on the circuit this year some travelling a long distances.

Rooster are supporting the series and will proved vouchers to the top seventeen qualifies and the winners of the team prize. Rooster vouchers can be used on their web site www.roostersailing.com, which sells most things a dinghy sailor needs.

The Midland events and information are posted on the Solo web page and on Facebook group 'Solo Midland Area' so please take a look and come and join us next year, we are in the middle of the country so none of you have far to travel!
