Sixtieth Finn Gold Cup at Yacht Club Gaeta - Day 3

by Robert Deaves, IFA 10 May 2016 09:22 PDT 5-13 May 2016

No wind, no racing

There was no racing on the third day of the Finn Gold Cup in Gaeta Italy as the light winds continued and got even lighter to the point that no racing was possible.

It was always looking like being the lightest day of the week and so it proved to be, with never more than 5 knots across the course area. After two hours of waiting around in the hot Italian sunshine, PRO Peter Reggio called it a day and sent the fleet ashore.

The forecast for the rest of the week is more encouraging with moderate winds forecast for the next three days. Three races will be attempted over the next two days to try and catch up with the schedule.

Our video guy Beau Outteridge made a psychedelic video of the tow in.

For today the sailors can have a rest and enjoy the hospitality of the Gaeta Yacht Club which is offering the local Gaeta speciality dish, tiella, to the sailors this evening.

Racing is scheduled to continue Wednesday at 12.00.
