Hobie Cats will be out in force this coming weekend for the Rubicon (Jersey) Channel Islands Hobie Cat Championships being held in St. Aubin's bay. This will be the 24th year this major event in the Channel Islands Hobie racing calendar has been held.

All Hobie racing classes will be competing including the largest class, the Hobie 16's, the Powerful Hobie 18 Tigers and Wildcats and the Junior Hobie Dragoons. As well class trophies, there are awards for Youth, Women, and Masters in the Hobie 16 event.

Organised by the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club, racing starts at 9:30am each day. With sailing conditions looking good for the weekend and 6 qualifying races to determine the Champions in each class, the Organising Committee and competitors are looking forward to an excellent and highly active two days of Championship racing. The Hobie 16 'B' Fleet at entry level, has seen good growth in the Island this year and along with entries from Guernsey will help boost entries on the start line where around 30 boats are expected to take part.

There is registration and weigh in for all teams this Friday 21st August at the RCIYC from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Event details and entry form are available from www.rciycjersey.com

The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club are delighted to welcome new sponsors Rubicon (Jersey) who are supporting this major sailing event in the Channel Islands for the first time.
