Twenty years ago the RS sailboat range was born, the RS Association was formed, the first RS events took place and the rest, as they say, is history.

Thousands of RS boats have been launched and their sailors have revelled in the RS spirit at hundreds of events. Champions have been crowned, friends have been made, marriages have resulted and the children that followed have started their sailing careers in RS junior classes. By any measure, that's quite an impact.

This simply has to be celebrated and the Class Associations will hold a glittering Volvo sponsored RS 20th Anniversary Ball on November 8th at Dorney Lake, the 2012 Olympic rowing venue, when RS sailors of the past and present will come together and make the party special.

If you're lucky enough to be there, you'll be greeted at the door with a glass of chilled bubbly served from a state-of-the-art Volvo ice-bucket, with dinner and speeches followed by live music from DfunK and carriages at midnight.

Tickets for this glam, black-tie Ball cost just £29.00 and are available from the RS Class Association web site shop. Only 250 tickets are available and needless to say they're being snapped up fast. So do your friends a favour and make sure they know about it, pack up the boat, polish your shoes and pick your frock for the RS party of the decade!

Volvo RS End of Season Championships

The Ball will take place on the Saturday evening of the Volvo RS End of Season Championships, which is at nearby Datchet Water SC, where 10 of the RS Classes from the Tera to the RS800 will compete on the same patch of water in the final big RS festival of sailing of 2015.

Visit your RS Class website via www.RSsailing.org for more details and entry/ticket information.
