BSDRA Thames Valley Championships at Bray Lake Watersports

Over twenty teams took part in the British Schools Dinghy Racing Associations Thames Valley Championships held at Bray Lake on Saturday June 7th. Despite a wet and pretty windless start an initial four league round robin was completed and by the second stage the sun had come out and wind increased. Gold, Silver, Bronze and Novice leagues were completed with Kings winning the Novice league; Eton 2 the Bronze league; Millfield the Silver and Winchester the Gold.

Millfield were unable to beat Eton 1 in the one race repercharge to determine the semi finalists which proved to be Sevenoaks 1 v Sevenoaks 2 and Eton 1 v Winchester. The Semis were best of three races but both only needed two races with both Eton and Sevenoaks 1 winning 2:0.

The final was, therefore, Sevenoaks 1 v Eton 1 and for a while in the first race it looked good for Eton, but some well executed moves at the bottom of the course around Mark 3 saw Sevenoaks converting to a winning position to take the first race. The second race was a little less exciting with Sevenoaks leading for the whole race to take the Championship.

The Sevenoaks Team comprised Edward Haynes, Issy Gordon, George Hanes, Loris Gliner, Alice Kidd & Remi Pfister. The Eton 1 Team was Robert Tilbury, Charlie Rolf, Charlie Davies, Jasper Severn, James Moore and George Gent.

The next BSDRA event are the Finals being held at Rutland SC on June 30/July 1st.
