EUROSAF EC 2K Team Racing at the Batavia Regatta 2013

by Alex Hoeve & Joost Brouwer 9 Mar 2014 07:40 PDT 20-22 June 2014

The Batavia Regatta 2013, the official EUROSAF EC 2K Team Racing, was a great event with really challenging conditions for the whole weekend. The conditions placed huge physical, but also tactical demands on the teams. In the evening there were some great parties close to the marina of Lelystad. The organisation of this year will change the social programme, based on the feedback of the teams who competed last year. There will be a formal dinner and sailors party, both with a typical Dutch flavour.

Also in 2014 the Batavia Regatta is the official EUROSAF EC 2K Team Racing and will be organized on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of June at the Batavia Sailing Center, Lelystad, the Netherlands. The event will be sailed in the MaxFun25 again, but this year a team will consist of 8 members. This Winter the boats are having a total refit, so the boats will be in perfect shape for the Batavia Regatta. Because there are 6 boats this year, more races can be sailed during the weekend. 'The Blue Army', a race management team of young adults who also organized the racing last year, will run the races.

In conjunction with Bruce Hebbert there is a high level umpire team confirmed of five umpires from five different countries. Every day there will be a morning briefing and debriefing in the afternoon. During the afternoon drink on-board of the clubship of Batavia Sailing Center, there will be several attractive side-events. The organization wants to introduce a new kind of sailing during these side events, sail cross in mini-JOD class. Based on the new winter Olympic disciplines, ski and snowboard cross.

We hope that you and your team will be present at the Batavia Regatta, the EUROSAF EC 2K Team Racing. If you would like to join the event, please let us know. When there are any questions about the NoR or the event, please let us know by sending an e-mail to . The European Championships will be an invitational event. Invitations will be send by the organization after the first of april.

We are looking forward to welcome you and your team at the Batavia Sailing Center in June 2014.
