by Ocean Elements 30 May 2014 18:26 AEST 17 December 2013

A pretty, cosmopolitan resort with so much to do – stretching along a beautiful beach with gentle waters and reliable winds. Suited to active sports enthusiasts and those looking for some "me time" with plenty of sun and a good book!

Overview

Once a traditional Greek fishing village, Nidri has blossomed into the most popular beach holiday resort on Lefkada. It's popularity is partly due to its cosmopolitan centre, but mainly because of the beautiful beach which stretches the length of the resort. Nidri offers a gently shelving, calm waters and stunning views of nearly islands Madouri, Sparti, Skorpidi and Skorpios – all but a short motor boat ride or sail away.

Watersports & Activities

Nidri is our Specialist Sailing Centre for Beginner to Advanced sailors and leisure sailing. It also caters very well for Beginner to Intermediate Windsurfers. We include in your holiday all water sports tuition (5 days) and RYA Courses Level 1-4 for no extra charge! We can take you from the basics up to sailing with spinnakers, racing techniques, including Beginner Racing and Performance Sailing Clinics in our RS dinghies.

Nidri is popular for its consistent and reliable winds and crystal clear, warm waters which make sailing so much fun for all ages! The array of nearby islands makes the sailing area very interesting for cruising and round-the-island fun races. All levels of sailors will enjoy the gentle morning wind for technique practice and the stronger afternoon breeze and flat water to put a smile on your face! Cruisers will enjoy a superb sailing area with many islands, coves and beaches to visit. Also try our Paddle Cruise and Sail Cruise - two very popular social events.

We also offer free use of kayaks, SUP's and Mountain bikes with all our holidays. Nidri also offers jet-skiing, water slkiing, Parasailing (paid for locally).

Relaxation

Nidri is a buzzing resort with plenty of excursions, boat trips, shops and bars. Our hotels are 5 mins from the centre and right on the beach front where the atmosphere is very relaxed, perfect for just lazing in the sun, snorkelling, walking and perhaps visiting cultural sites. For more active relaxation you may sail one of our dinghies or day boats to any one of the nearby islands – or even rent a small motorboat, and weigh anchor for lunch and a swim.

Mountain Biking, Walking

Take one of our bikes out for a day and see the island, enjoy a great many cycle trails and cycling is really the best way of exploring this charming island. Above Lefkas Town you will find the Faneromeni Monastery which has stunning views of the island, Venetian churches and the centre is car free with plenty of shops and waterfront tavernas. Experienced bikers and walkers will find new challenges and classic trails out of Nidri. Popular rides and walks include those to Nidri Falls (around 4kms), and Agia Kiriyaki Church (8kms). Our bikes will be the superb Specialized Hard Rock Disc 2014 models.

Walking

The surrounding area is quite flat, so you don't need to be an avid hiker to see the sights. The walk to Nidri waterfall is beautiful and a gentle 4km walk that passes through olive groves. For a bit more adventure then head into the nearby hills for a spectacular vista of the islands, visits to Venetian churches or the Monastery.
