Lymington Town Sailing Club's annual prize giving was a formal evening organised by Keelboat Racing Captain Nick Hopwood. Following a 3-course dinner, a packed Club house was entertained by the Bullet Blues Brothers who provided the music late into the night. The evening acknowledged the successes of the year, as well as a few mishaps with many of the year's highlights being caught on camera which were shown throughout the dinner.
As well as being awarded the traditional glassware, winners also received various items of sailing gear that was kindly donated by Harken.
A new award this season was the Club Champion. This was awarded to Richard Russell (RS100) who was just ahead of John Cooper & Becci Wigley (RS400) by 5 points. The 'Most Improved Saturday Sailor' went to Adrian & Charlotte Bateman (RS400).
Race 8 of the Lymington Town Sailing Club's Winter Series got underway in rather cold and windless conditions. As many of the racing marks have now been removed from the water, race officer Stephen Homewood set a short, inshore triangular course using two movable marks and the line.
The fleets were somewhat reduced in numbers following the Club's annual prize giving the night before and the junior fleets being away for Laser training. Both remaining fleets were given three laps to complete. Towards the end of the first lap a boat got caught up on the leeward mark which resulted in the boat, and mark, being carried West by the building tide.
