The BLSA held the 3rd round of the 2013 B Series competition at Perranporth Airfield in Cornwall this weekend, there were 23 entrants in the two classes of Production and Performance in Lightweight and Heavyweight catagories. The weekend's race officer was Kevin Myers who kindly arranged the negotiations for use of the airfield and arranged the food and space for us to eat it.

The weather had moved from overcast to misty by the time the first race started shortly after 2pm. The newly delivered race start and traffic light system became invaluable at times and worked well giving light indication and siren notification at the start of dial up and the races and performed well on its 3rd outing. We raced till 5.15pm then stopped for a quick snack with racing continuing until 8pm in the evening, the mist, which was getting considerably thicker by this time, giving an eary feel. The evening races use the whole airfield so all classes raced together. For many it was their highlight and for some their low-point of the weekend, but we managed 3 long circuit races before the fog and light had the better of us. For myself it was a highlight managing 3 good places making up for a really bad start to the day.

We met back at the Airfield on Sunday morning and managed 3 more races before the tradition of the Cornish pasty lunch and prize giving. Notable winners of the weekend were Graham Deal back after his long absence winning the Performance Headyweight division. Lorraine Etherington was 1st in Performance Lightweight and a big round of applause from everyone as Lorraine had been sailing well this weekend and it was good to see her win. We also had 11 year old Thomas Hollingsworth getting second in the lightweight production division - he's going to be one to watch in the future.

A big thanks to the organisers, the marshalls, the many people helping with the Transponder and of course the many people who made the long journey to Cornwall and didn't see it until the mist cleared on Sunday morning.

The next event is on the beach at Weston Super Mare on the 20/21st July, this will be well attended as it is the venue of the European Blokart Championships on the 20-22nd September with an expected 100+ competitors from across Europe taking part.
