A full range of conditions were available for those who made it to Bala for the Whit Regatta, ranging from light & variable winds, on the Saturday, to a perfect force 3 to 4 all day on the Sunday and, to top it all, the sun shone throughout.
The Asymmetric fleet were teamed up on the same course as the International Moths who were also at Bala for their Inland Championships.
In the lighter winds of the first day it was a battle between the Comet Trios of Christopher & Daren Padro and a 2000 of John Haywood.
Day two's stronger winds brought the K6 of Mike Kneal to the front for race 3, then Ed Corteen in his Laser Vortex won races 4 & 5.
Overall the consistency of John & Sarah Haywood from Bala in their 2000 with four second places gave them the overall event. Daren & Callum Padro in a Comet Trio from Shustoke took second overall & Ed Corteen in his Vortex from Pennine took third place.
The Handicap fleet were also sharing a race course but this time with the Graduates who were at Bala for their Nationals.
First places in all of the races were taken by either Sarah Cockerill in a Laser or a GP14 sailed by John Salomonson & Anna Wakeline from Manor Park. In the end however Sarah from Hayling Island won the event with three firsts and a second. Local youngster Aled Goddard came third overall in a Laser Radial.
Race reports for the Graduate Nationals and the International Moth Inlands have been posted separately.
