On Saturday 18 May, the Island Cruising Club in Salcombe will be opening its doors and inviting people of all ages and abilities to come along and have a go at sailing and view its cruising and training yacht, Island Spirit.

Whether you're completely new to the sport, looking to get back on the water or sail regularly, the Island Cruising Club will be one of the many sailing clubs and centres across the country taking part in RYA Push the Boat Out weekend. The event will see hundreds of people taking part in the sport at open days, have a go sessions and fun events for all the family.

Starting at 10.00am, on 18 May at Island Cruising Club's base in Salcombe, the Egremont, there will be a whole host of activities taking place including trial sails on the Club's fleet of keelboats, a chance to see their 7m RIB, and to discuss RYA training courses and cruises available on Island Spirit. Places on the Club launch need to be booked in advance by phoning 01548 844631, or emailing . Only people with a booking can board the launch out to Egremont.

Commodore Richard Martin said: "We are delighted to be taking part in the RYA Push the Boat Out, we are inviting the local community to come down to the club, have a go at sailing and see what the Club has to offer and get involved, who knows if you visit you might just get hooked!"

RYA Sport Development Manager Jon White said "So many people were inspired by the London 2012 Games and Push the Boat Out provides the perfect opportunity for clubs to encourage people to get down to their local sailing venue, have a go and find out how just easy it is to get involved in the sport".
