Blazes burn off the opposition
The fourth race of Lymington Town Sailing Club's Perisher Series brought twenty one boats to the start line on a bright and considerably milder day than of late. With a south westerly breeze blowing between 15 and 20 knots the fleet set off, after a slightly delayed start, on a reach out of the river to a mark just to the west.
The Race Officer laid a mark just off the slipway which brought the boats back to base before a final leg out to East Mark and back. This gave the sailors a chance to call it a day after one leg or for the Race Officer to shorten had conditions worsened. The two Blazes revelled in the reaching conditions and came home in third and fourth place. Stuart Watson just shaded Geoff Havers to gain the victory on handicap adjustment. The ever consistent John Cooper and Becci Wigley, in their RS 400, claimed third place.
The growing slow fleet sailed a more appropriate course and the top spot was once again taken by Robby Boyd from Tom Goacher in their RS Teras.
