Star World Championship at Hyeres, France - Day 2

4-11 May 2012
Even if Hyeres is famous for its strong winds, this might not be the case for the Star Worlds! One more day with a light breeze of 4-6 knots and the fleet waiting for a couple of hours until the race committee decided to go for the first race.
Even if the winds were too light, the race was full of suspense, with Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada giving it all in order to score a bullet but finally losing the top few metres before the finishing line!
The race started with O’Leary leading until the first downwind leg. Then it was time for the Brazilian to make his clever move; he tacked immediately after rounding the gate, and headed to the right side of the course. That gave him the lead until 100 meters before finishing. Marazzi was patient and waited for the right moment to get 1st.
Everything is open with more races to come and windy weather forecast for tomorrow.
