The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club celebrates its 150th Anniversary, this year, with the Connex Spring Regatta a major highlight in a season of heightened activity for the Club, befitting this landmark occasion. The Regatta is being held over the weekend of 28th/29th April with racing taking place in the impressive surrounds of St Aubin’s Bay and off the south coast of this beautiful Island.
The racing programme provides two days’ of racing for sportsboat, cruiser/racer, dayboat, dinghy and sport-catamaran classes whilst, ashore, there is the Regatta party on the Saturday evening followed by prize-giving on the Sunday. Entry is free of charge with the event being open to all eligible boats. Complimentary berthing is, once again, being kindly provided by Jersey Marinas.
This is the fourth year in succession that Connex, Jersey’s bus company, has been the enthusiastic sponsor of the Club’s Spring Regatta. Managing Director, Mr Eric Le Roux, says that Connex is proud to support this leading Regatta during such an important year in the history of the Club and to play its part in the Island’s community.
Last year saw plenty of action in all classes despite the light winds that were such a feature of the Regatta. The Club is keen to welcome increasing numbers of visiting boats wishing to pit their skills and wits against the local hotshots or to simply to join in the fun of this great event. The Regatta will undoubtedly be an excellent precursor to the Brewin Dolphin British Hobie Cat Nationals scheduled for the weekend of 24th-26th August and the Brewin Dolphin Jersey Regatta taking place from 7th – 9th September.
The Notice of Race has been posted on the Club’s website, www.rciycjersey.com and is available in the RCIYC Clubhouse.
Entries should be submitted to the RCIYC no later than Wednesday 24th April. For further information please e-mail the Administrator on or call 00 44 (0)1534 745783.
