Day three can be summed up by the name of local Scottish band WET WET WET. Unfortunately the rain didn’t bring any wind with it so the fleet never left the dinghy park. Only two qualification races have been completed so the pressure is on as there needs to be three to seed sailors into Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets.
Tuesday evening brought a respite from the deluge therefore sailors were able to compete at some traditional highland games. First up was tossing the caber which was going well until an overzealous coach threw it so far it broke off the end! Next was the much anticipated tug of war competition where the dream final took place between National squad and Youth squad, experience and let’s face it a little more lard favoured the youths who won gaining bragging rights for the rest of the week.
Oh, and guess what, the Regatta fleet had the best day again. The youngsters went on a rib cruise around Craigleigth where someone told Arthur he saw a Penguin, bless.
As this report is being written (day four) all sailors are just leaving the beach hopeful of finishing the qualification series.
