The Laser Pico enjoys a refresh

by Katie Ashworth, LaserPerformance 20 Apr 2011 00:04 PDT

The Laser Pico was originally available in Standard and Race formats. The Laser Pico Race benefitted from additional sail area, padded toe straps, an upgraded main sheet ratchet block and a kicker with a 4:1 purchase ratio.

All Laser Picos will now be delivered with 4 padded toe straps; 2 on the centre line (fore and aft) and 2 on the aft side tanks. The main sheet ratchet block has been upgraded to the Selden 60mm ball bearing ratchet race block and the kicker system is upgraded to a Selden Sport vang with a ball bearing 6:1 purchase ratio. All Laser Picos will now enjoy the same equipment and the only difference between the Standard and Race Picos will be the sail area.

Mark Henry, Managing Director, LaserPerformance Europe said “It’s great that we can still find ways to improve our favourite teaching boat; these changes have been made thanks to a review project with customers to discover what else we could do with a boat that is already as successful as the Laser Pico.”

The Laser Pico was launched in 1995 and has enjoyed outstanding success. Internationally, over 15,000 boats have been sold. The Laser Pico is considered by many to be the best boat to introduce new sailors to the sport and the best teaching boat available. The Laser Pico is confidence inspiring and extremely durable.
