Enterprise Open at Brookvale & Sparkhill Sailing Club

Seven boats contested the penultimate event in the Speed Sails double Chine Series.
The first race saw Anthony Clay/James Holmes (SoulSailor RA) take the lead from a brilliant committee boat end start, and despite being challenged early on by Paul Young/Alison Torrens (Brookvale and Sparkhill SC) built up a huge lead to finish first. Second place went to Martin/Laurence Davies (Rugby and Daventry SC) and third to Mike Cossey/Christine Barron (Tamworth SC).
Mike and Christine won the start of the second race, but soon buckled under pressure from Ant and James, who took the lead. Martin and Laurence seized the initiative, quickly passing Mike and Christine and storming along to apply pressure on Ant and James for several laps. Ant and James kept their cool and held on to win the race and the meeting. Second went to Martin/Laurence and third to Mike/Christine.
Ant and James were over the line in the third race and had to restart. Mike and Christine led the fleet away with Paul and Alison, and Martin and Laurence in hot pursuit. After some early battles Mike and Christine established an unassailable lead. A close battle up the last beat saw Paul and Alison getting the better of Martin and Laurence to snatch second place.
