SailTime Falmouths new West Country base

by SailTime / ADPR 14 May 2007 22:37 AEST

All aboard for SailTime launch!

A brand new Beneteau Oceanis 343 will be awaiting visitors invited to the launch of SailTime Falmouth’s new West Country base at Mylor Yacht Harbour. Located on the western shore of Carrick Roads in the beautiful Fal Estuary, the new SailTime base opens on the May Bank Holiday weekend and introduces the concept of fractional sailing to Cornwall.

SailTime offers a sailing membership akin to a club membership, where members pay a monthly fee to enjoy the use of their boats, and SailTime takes care of everything else. The monthly fee for members is usually less than the marina fees alone, with the added advantage that once a member has finished their day out on the water, they simply check off the boat and walk away with no worries about depreciation, maintenance, or servicing. Each boat is shared by a maximum of seven members and one owner-member.

The SailTime Falmouth base will be run by Dan Hardy who has spent the last two years living and working in Falmouth, running a Children’s Sailing School on Swanpool Beach training hundreds of new sailors and experiencing their joy of learning to sail for the first time. Hardy says, “Loving the Cornwall area and the life style, coupled with the outstanding coast line, it was a natural decision to set up a brand new SailTime base in Falmouth.”

Hardy continues, “SailTime is an extremely exciting new concept that makes sailing more accessible, affordable and hassle free for all. We are hoping to attract new faces to experience a great sport, and what better place to do it than the beautiful coast line of Cornwall.”

This is the first base that SailTime has opened a base in Cornwall, and whether Members are a beginner or fully qualified, SailTime Falmouth offers an extensive range of RYA training programmes tailored to suit everyone’s needs.

The base will initially open with a brand new Beneteau Oceanis 343, which seven members will share, each having the opportunity to sail at least seven times a month. Monthly membership starts at £450 (plus VAT) per month.
