Enterprise Blue Jib Seris at Maidstone Sailing Club

by Geoffrey Bush 29 Apr 2004 05:17 PDT 25 April 2004

The Enterprise Blue Jib (southern) season got off to a cracking start at Maidstone SC on 25th April. The wind was light and shifty but still produced a great days racing. Shifts of 180 degrees gave the race officer a hard time but ensured there was never a dull moment for the helms and their crews.

16 year old Nick Bush and Ned Carnie (or was his twin brother Chris, who knows?) from Weir Wood SC managed to get three bullets to win the open. They were closely contested by newcomers Graham Lawson and his young son Tom from Bewl Valley SC who were just behind them in each race to claim second overall. The first race in particular was a cat and mouse affair with only a few feet separating the first two boats at the finish.

Third, and first Maidstone boat, were Ray and Adam Packham followed by veteran Rodney Patching, crewed by Elizabeth Flight from Sussex YC.
