Back on deck
Here at SW Asia, a recent dose of food poisoning (“must ‘ave been something I ate, Mum”) has meant that all sailing and editorial activities have been strictly virtual. But the head is now back above the parapet and looking for news.
No 1 event in Asia this last week was of course the Singapore Youth Sailing Championship, another constituent regatta in the ASAF Youth Cup. News coming out of Singapore was a little thin on the ground, but here's what we received. An event of this calibre, and involving this much potential, really deserves more coverage – organisers please note.
Of course, there's always plenty of info coming out of the Volvo Ocean Race press room – this time it was the announcement of Vestas Wind's entry in the next VOR. Charlie Enright and Mark Towill, ex-Alvimedica, are in charge, and are rumoured to be taking two sets of paper charts with them – to be sure, to be sure, as Paddy said.
Throw in the big boats racing for the St Barth's Bucket, the Extreme Sailoing Series taking off in Mexico, and the WMRT going at in Perth, and there's plenty of splash and dash to read through, below.
