We did not plan for this!!

Tom Slingsby talks to schoolchildren at Gosford Sailing Club Sail-World.com /AUS http://www.sail-world.com
On Saturday, the Sail-World Team was present at the Civic Reception at Gosford Sailing Club for Olympic Laser Gold Medallist Tom Slingsby.

Having first interviewed Tom when he was a shy school boy long ago at the same location and having been on the start line and finish line of the Medal Race in Weymouth, it was wonderful to join in with the locals and to see him talking to the school children on Saturday.

Tom is a great young Australian and great ambassador for our sport.

There was quite a media crush and as Craig Haydon from Yachting Australia stood videoing the occasion beside me, he said ‘we planned what we would do if we won the three Gold Medals we thought we could.

' We just did not plan for this ... a situation where we won more Gold Medals than any other Olympic sport.’

It’s a wonderful problem to have… all our medallists have been in high media demand and this can only be good for our sport.

Plenty of news today… read on.
