Streaker Boats out to attract anglers

by Bob Wonders on 30 Jun 2008
Easy access forward and the ability to fish the entire boat are among the Streaker Sports Cuddy’s features Streaker Boats http://www.streakerboats.com.au
Melbourne-based Streaker Boats has upgraded its proven 5.02-metre Sports Cuddy Walk-Thru giving the craft strong appeal to inshore and coastal anglers. Easy to tow, launch and retrieve, the Sports Cuddy offers a practical layout for either ‘serious’ fishing or other water sports.

A key feature of the design is the forward walk-through deck that allows simple access via the flip-up windscreen to the large forward hatch.

It allows one to safely move forward to the bow while providing support and stability during anchoring or when working a fish.

According to Streaker Boats, the new design was arrived at to give boaters more accessibility and safer, more comfortable movement on board.

Forward visibility is excellent and allows unobstructed access to the bow roller and forward cleats, while an uncluttered deck area allows an angler to work a fish without fear of tangled lines.

The general layout of the boat indicates that the Streaker team is comprised of keen anglers; space aboard is maximised and there’s ample clever storage features built in to house tackle and other gear.

For novice weekend boaters to experienced skippers, the helm lacks nothing, with all gauges, ‘sounder and fuse switch panel tucked neatly into a raise dash module.

On the port side, the skipper’s companion has a solid stainless steel grab rail, two beverage holders and a lockable glove box.

Aft, two removable quarter seats flank a sturdy bait preparation board and two bait boxes tucked into the transom offer additional storage for fishing essentials.

Cockpit coamings have a recessed stainless steel grab rails and deck lights, with rod racks placed above the fibreglass side pockets.

The versatility of the 5.02 Sports Cuddy is even more apparent when choosing power options.

Standard outboard power is a Yamaha Saltwater (oil injected) Series 115hp engine, but it can easily accommodate the 100hp Yamaha four-stroke installed by Streaker’s own factory technicians.

Towing the craft is well within the reach of the average family sedan.

The complete boat/motor/trailer package weighs in at only 1100kg (approx).

With the right outboard combination, the cruising range thanks to the 88-litre sub-floor fuel tank allows the Sports Cuddy to range further than most comparable craft and it can legally (and safely) carry up to six people if weekend sightseeing is on the agenda.

Streaker Boats is a leading Melbourne dealership authorised to handle its own boats as well as Quintrex, Larson, Yamaha outboards and Yamaha Wave Runners.
