Rolex Sydney Hobart- Line Honours Images by Crosbie Lorimer

by Crosbie Lorimer on 29 Dec 2013
Wild Oats XI approaches the finish - Finish line, 2013 Rolex Sydney Hobart - Day 4 Crosbie Lorimer http://www.crosbielorimer.com

Crosbie Lorimer was on the River Derwent yesterday evening - along with hundreds of others - following Wild Oats XI as she tacked up the river and crossed the finish line to take her record equalling seventh Line Honours win.

It was unusual sight to see Wild Oats XI so heavily reefed, but the river was proving extremely gusty at times.

Navigator Tom Addis said that the new foil had come in to good effect on the last day when they were reaching downwind speeds of 35 knots. The foil adds about 3% to speed performance, by lifting the hull up to as much as 300mm, which amounts to a handy few additional nautical miles in a day of fast running - such as Wild Oats XI enjoyed yesterday.

Here are some of Crosbie's'pictures of the finish.
