Dean Barker, Emirates Team NZ skipper and Director of www.kiwiyachting.co.nz!Kiwi_Yachting_Consultants_Nexus_AB, reports from Nice, France from the Extreme Sailing Series, in which he is helms Emirates Team NZ .

28 September 2011:

Day 2 in Nice

The second day here in Nice was slightly better for us. We managed to put together some good results and a couple of not so good but all in all much improved on yesterday.

We are definitely struggling for pace being as heavy as we are. When the breeze gets up to 7 knots or more we are going OK but unfortunately we just never see the build to that wind strength. Predominantly we are racing in winds of 5 knots or less and we are hurting in those conditions. Not so much in a straight line but out of every manoeuvre where you are looking for acceleration.

The forecast for the next three days has much of the same so not a great outlook. Combined with the short course 'Stadium Racing' things will not get any easier

Dean
