The Byte CII South American Championship has come to a close with three female and three male Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games places awarded.

Held out of Yacht Club Santo Amaro in Sao Paolo, Brazil a 22-boat fleet raced on Lake Guarapiranga aiming for continental glory and spots at the second edition of the Youth Olympic Games.

Pedro Correa (VRA) dominated the fleet, scoring an unprecedented ten wins from 12 races. The Brazilian subsequently guaranteed his country a spot in the Boy's Byte CII fleet at Nanjing 2014.

Trailing Correa by 26 points in second was Chile's Clemente Lacamara, who secured Chile a spot at Nanjing 2014. Lacamara finished comfortably ahead of Peru's Angello Farias who took the third country spot but was fifth in the regatta.

Uruguay's Dolores Fraschini and Peru's Jarian Augusto distinguished themselves in the regatta finishing third and fourth. The point difference between the female racers was less than a point per race. In eighth place overall and rounding out the female country qualifiers was Natascha Boddener (BRA).

At the end of the day, it was two places to Brazil, two places to Peru, one place to Uruguay and one place to Chile.
