To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Volvo Ocean Race, VOR's media team have created a short film about the spirit and the people behind sport's ultimate test of character.

Since its beginnings as the Whitbread in 1973 to the present day, the Volvo Ocean Race has been about passion, courage and pride. We've had 40 years of highs, lows, pushing a little harder and reaching a little higher.

Here's to the next 40,000 miles and the next 40 years.

The Volvo Ocean Race returns in October 2014.

Expect more like this to be uploaded to the Official Volvo Ocean Race YouTube Channel in the future. Get all the latest updates on www.VolvoOceanRace.com
